About Us

The High Impact Weather Research Center (HIWRC) performs observations using mobile weather monitoring vehicles for roads, mountainous areas and disaster sites, where it is difficult to set up meteorological equipment. The HIWRC has built mobile weather monitoring network, such as for cloud, and atmospheric precipitable water vapor, to obtain data with high spatial and temporal resolution data. Utilizing these data, the center analyzes the social and economic impact of meteorological disasters to provide disaster damage scenarios in order to contribute to disaster prevention activities
